Iran discloses pharmaceutical and raw material imports and exports

BAKU, Azerbaijan, May 8. The export of pharmaceuticals and medicinal raw materials from Iran amounted to 79,500 tons worth about $170 million in the last Iranian year (from March 21, 2023 through March 19, 2024), the statistics of Iran's Customs Administration said, Trend reports.

Iran's exports of pharmaceuticals and raw materials increased by 10.6 percent in value terms and decreased by 4.5 percent in weight terms last Iranian year compared to the previous year (from March 21, 2022 through March 20, 2023). Iran's exports of pharmaceuticals and raw materials amounted to 83,300 tons worth $153 million in the previous year.

Companies Darman Ara, AryoGen Pharmed Company, Kimyagaran Emrooz Chemical Industries Company, Behestan Plasma Company, and Jinna Gene Company accounted for 50 percent of Iran's exports of pharmaceuticals and medical raw materials last year.

Meanwhile, in the last Iranian year, Iran's imports of pharmaceuticals and pharmaceutical raw materials amounted to 126,000 tons worth approximately $2.35 billion. Imports of pharmaceuticals and raw materials decreased by 13.6 percent in value and 63.4 percent in weight compared to the previous year. Iran's imports of pharmaceutical products amounted to about 347,000 tons worth about $2.72 billion in the previous year.

According to the statistics of the Iran Customs Administration, Iran's non-oil exports in the last Iranian year amounted to more than 136 million tons worth $49.3 billion. Compared to the previous year, Iran's non-oil exports decreased by 8.87 percent in value terms and increased by 9.82 percent in weight terms.

To note, according to the statistics of Iran's Customs Administration, imports of products to Iran last year amounted to 39 million tons worth approximately $66.3 billion. Product imports increased by 9.77 percent in value and 4.39 percent in weight compared to the previous year.
