BISHKEK, Kyrgyzstan, May 9. Over the years of Kyrgyzstan's participation in the Eurasian Economic Union (since 2015), mutual trade with member states has increased by 76 percent, from $2.5 billion to $4.4 billion in 2023, Trend reports.
The President of the country Sadyr Zhaparov highlighted this during his speech at the anniversary meeting of the Supreme Eurasian Economic Council in Moscow.
He noted that Kyrgyzstan's exports to the EAEU countries have tripled, from $410 million to $1.23 billion, while the import volume has grown by more than 50 percent, from $2 billion to $3 billion.
"The volume of Kyrgyzstan's exports to the EAEU countries remains high. Thus, we direct 80 percent of our exports, excluding gold exports, to the EAEU countries," Zhaparov said.
Additionally, he pointed out that the structure of Kyrgyzstan's exports is shifting towards goods with higher added value, such as textiles, clothing, footwear, plastic, and stone products.
Furthermore, he emphasized that mutual trade between Kyrgyzstan and EAEU countries increased by 34.8 percent by the end of the first nine months of 2023.
According to the data from the State Statistical Committee of Kyrgyzstan, the country's trade with member states of the EAEU totaled $482.7 million, which is a decline of 17.9 percent compared to the corresponding period in 2023.
