Ukraine is interested in Azerbaijan's participation in the Viking rail transit route, Prime Minister Mykola Azarov said while meeting with Azerbaijan's Minister of Foreign Affairs Elmar Mammadyarov, Ukrainian News agency reported.
"If joined the agreement, Azerbaijan would take part in the project for the route to be expanded to Kazakhstan, Turkmenistan and other Central Asian countries," the prime minister said.
The project is open for potential participants; the Ministry of Transport of Azerbaijan has received appropriate proposals, Azarov noted.
Ukraine is concerned with promoting bilateral cooperation in engineering, chemical, light and food industries, the prime minister emphasized.
Ukrainian Cabinet of Ministers intends to simplify customs procedures for the Viking rail transit route.
