By Tamilla Mammadova – Trend:

With funding from the German Government German Agency for International Cooperation (GIZ) is introducing dual-oriented VET to Georgia, the GIZ told Trend.

"This is a specific form of TVET that is particularly responsive to the job market and is jointly designed by the state, the business sector, and civil society," the GIZ said.

As the GIZ noted, one of the basic principles of dual-oriented VET is the learning of theory and practice in two learning locations, mostly a company and a vocational school.

According to the GIZ, to achieve such dual cooperation modality in the training provision, the business sector is systematically involved in planning, control, implementation, and quality assurance of dual TVET measures.

"GIZ supported the Ministry of Education, Science, Culture and Sport (MoESCS) in the development of 17 dual vocational training programs in the sectors of wine, tourism, ICT, transport and logistics and construction. Currently, 63 companies and several Business Membership Organizations (BMOs) are involved in training programs," the source said.

GIZ works closely with the German government-owned development bank KfW, which is based in Frankfurt.
