Georgia reveals volume of exported fruits

Some 94,667.4 tons of fruit, worth $140.06 million have been exported from Georgia from January through November 2020, Trend reports via the National Statistics Office of Georgia (Geostat).

With $78.80 million or 13,942.3 tons hazelnuts were the top exported fruits during the current year. Germany has been a top export market for Georgian hazelnuts.

Export of fruits from Georgia has increased by 15 percent during the reporting period of the current year as compared to the similar time range of 2019. Some 94,667.4 tons $140.06 million of fruit has been exported from the country from January through November 2020, up from $121.83 million of 2019, the data of the Geostat says.

Hazelnuts were the top exported fruits from Georgia this year, which shared 13,942.3 tons, worth $78.80 million. The second top exported fruit was peach, worth $21.44 million or 25,397.9 tons, following by tangerines - $7.49 million or 14,340 tons, and persimmon – 8,907.8 tons, worth $4.77 million.

Top importers of most demanded fruits from Georgia are: hazelnuts – Germany (3,996.7 tons); peach – Russia (6,833.2 tons); persimmon - Russia (4,114.1 tons).

Out of top exported fruits of the current year, tangerines were the only ones that have shown a reduction in export by its value, as compared to the previous year.
