Power plants in Azerbaijan generated 4.4 billion kilowatt hours of electricity from January through February 2020, or 4.1 percent more than in the same period in 2019, Trend reports with reference to the State Statistics Committee.
The commercial electricity accounted for 4.2 billion kilowatt hours of the total volume of electricity generated in the reporting period, or 4.5 percent more compared to the same period of 2019.
Thermal power plants accounted for 4.1 billion kilowatt hours of the total volume of produced commercial electricity, which is 6.5 percent more than in the same period of 2019.
Hydro power plants in Azerbaijan generated 1.24 billion kilowatt hours of electricity during the reporting period, down by 31.4 percent.
Wind farms produced 17 million kilowatt hours of electricity, which is 9.1 percent less than in the same period last year, while solar power plants reduced the production by 7.8 percent, standing at 4.7 million kilowatt hours.
