Iran records increase in cargo transportation via Abadan International Airport

The volume of cargo transported through the Abadan International Airport in the Khuzestan Province (south-western Iran) increased by 20 percent, during the first six months of the current Iranian year (March 21 through September 22, 2021), compared to the same period last Iranian year, as was reflected in the statistics of Iran Airports and Air Navigation Company (IAC), Trend reports.

Over 6 months, 1,410 tons of cargo were transported through this airport. Meanwhile, the figure stood at 1,170 tons in the same period last Iranian year.

“Furthermore, 138,000 passengers were transported through Abadan International Airport in six months. Passenger transportation increased by 5 percent, compared to the same period last Iranian year. So, about 132,000 passengers had been transported through the airport in the same period last Iranian year,” the statistics said.

According to the statistics, Abadan International Airport has received 2,090 passenger planes during the reporting period, which is an increase of 22 percent, compared to the same period last Iranian year. Thus, the figure amounted to 1,720 units in the same period last Iranian year.

Reportedly, Iran's Abadan International Airport is located on 383 hectares of land.
