Russia remains Uzbekistan's main trade partner among EAEU countries

The foreign trade turnover of Uzbekistan and EAEU member countries decreased in the first half of 2020 by 15.6 percent compared to the same period 2019 to $4.44 billion, Trend reports citing nuz.uz.

Export of Uzbekistan to the EAEU countries decreased by 34.5 percent to $1.4 billion for the reporting period, import decreased by 2.1 percent to $3 billion.

More than half of Uzbekistan's foreign trade with the EAEU states falls on Russia, whose share made up 58.3 percent following the results of six months of 2020 against 56.1 percent following the results of six months of 2019.

In particular, the foreign trade turnover between Uzbekistan and Russia has decreased by 12.2 percent to $2.5 billion.

Uzbek exports to Russia decreased by 40.5 percent to $663.9 million. Imports to Uzbekistan from Russia increased by 4.9 percent to $1.9 billion. In 2020, Russia becomes the largest importer of white sugar to Uzbekistan.

The foreign trade turnover of Uzbekistan and member states of the EU has declined by 3.3 percent in the first half of 2020 compared to the same period last year and slightly exceeded $1.7 billion. Germany became Uzbekistan's largest trade partners in the EU, which accounted for 20.4 percent of Uzbek trade turnover.
