BAKU, Azerbaijan, April 17. The volume of cargo loaded and unloaded in the Imam Khomeini port of the Khuzestan Province (south-western Iran) decreased by 7.26 percent, in the 12th month of the last Iranian year (February 20 through March 20, 2022), compared to the 11th month (January 21 through February 19, 2022), Trend reports via the statistics of Iranian Ports and Maritime Organization (PMO).

According to the statistics, about 3.56 million tons of cargo were loaded and unloaded in the Imam Khomeini port in the 12th month. This figure stood at about 3.88 million tons in the 11th month.

“Also, 1.6 million tons of cargo were exported and 1.59 million tons were imported through the Imam Khomeini port over the reporting month. At the same time, 190,000 tons of cargo were loaded in the port for transit,” the statistics said.

Within the 12th month, 46,400 tons of cargo were loaded and 153,000 tons were unloaded in the port for cabotage.

According to the statistics, 8,870 tons of cargo were loaded and 8,770 tons were unloaded in this port for transshipment. Furthermore, 1,120 tons of cargo were loaded, and 6,090 tons were unloaded for other purposes.

So, 1.28 million tons of essential products, 397,000 tons of metal products, 386,000 tons of construction and mining materials, 2,620 tons of equipment, vehicles, and spare parts, 237,000 tons of chemicals were loaded and unloaded in the Imam Khomeini port in the 12th month of the current Iranian year.

Moreover, 30,200 tons of leather products, clothing, fibers, paper, and wood materials, 117,000 tons of container products, 1.15 million tons of crude oil and oil products were loaded and unloaded in this port within the mentioned month.

About 12.2 million tons of cargo were loaded and unloaded in Iranian ports in the 12th month of the last Iranian year. Of this, 6.2 million tons were loaded and 5.98 million tons were unloaded. This is a decrease of 5.3 percent, compared to the same month preceding Iranian year.
