Israel, Jerusalem, 23 February / Trend corr R. Abdullayev / The flag of Azerbaijan was hoisted in the Park in memory of the Jewish children who became victims of Holocaust and in the Leader's Park in the Rishon LeZion city (centre of Israel). The ceremony involved the Mayor of Rishon LeZion Meir Nitzan, the President of the Congress of Azerbaijanis in Middle East Alex Shapiro-Suliman, and the delegation headed by the Chair of the Azerbaijani Office of the World Congress of Azerbaijanis (WCA) Ismayil Agayev.

During the meeting taking place in the residence of Rishon LeZion's Mayor, Meir Nitzan highly appreciated the present level of Azerbaijan and Israel's mutual relationships. He said he respects Azerbaijan and its people being a good example of tolerance. " Azerbaijan has never had anti-Semitism and Jews have ever lived in peace and mutual understanding with Azerbaijanis. I made sure of that when visiting a splendid place of tolerance - the Guba region in Azerbaijan," Nitzan said. He thanked Shapiro-Suliman for his contributions to the enhancement of relationships between Azerbaijan and Israel.

Ismayil Agayev said to the Mayor that Azerbaijanis are marking 16th anniversary of the tragedy, the massacre that was committed in Khojali town of Azerbaijan in 1992. "We call on international community not to be indifferent to the massacre that Khojali people were subjected to as a result of Armenian military aggression. Those who committed the crime must be punished. The world community should condemn the military and political aggression of Armenia,' Ismayil Agayev said.

Shapiro-Suliman proposed to make Baku and Rishon LeZion twin cities. Suliman also informed of one of his perspective business projects, a settlement of Israeli type not far from Baku-Guba highway. He thanked the Mayor for supporting the initiative to hoist the flag of Azerbaijan in the Memory Park and the Leader's Park in Rishon LeZion city as a symbol of friendship between Azerbaijani and Israeli people.
