WB contributes over $5 million to strengthening HR capacity in Azerbaijani public investments

A mission led by WB project team head Elizabeth Wang will visit Baku to review a project to strengthen the HR capacity in public investments in Azerbaijan, the WB mission in Baku told Trend on Monday.

The mission will stay in Baku within October 27-November 3 in order to monitor the implementation of project.

Holding of bilateral meetings to review the activities of enterprises in the framework of this project, the obtained results and the existing shortcomings and the positive aspects of the project, is planned within the visit. A report will be drawn up as a result of the meeting.

The project involves organizations that are implementing a program of public investment, including companies operating in the road, water and sanitation sector and other sectors.

The strengthening of human resource capacity in Azerbaijan in the field of state investments in sectors such as transportation (30 percent), water sector (30 percent), education (20 percent), government (10 percent) and energy (10 percent) is planned within the project.

As of September 30, 2012, some $5.24 million dollars are spent out of total credit, in the amount of $8 million, granted by the WB for this project. The funds are provided by the International Development Association for 20 years with 10 years grace period. The total project cost is $10 million, $2 million of which will be provided through the government's share in the project.

The main purpose of the project is to improve the quality and efficiency of the development and implementation of investment projects in key sectors, especially in infrastructure.
