BAKU, Azerbaijan, July 6

By Ilkin Seyfaddini - Trend:

Uzbekistan’s Kungrad Soda Plant launched production of grade A calcined soda (sodium carbonate) , Trend reports citing Uzkimyosanoat.

Previously, the plant produced grade B sodium carbonate.

Heavy soda has the same chemical properties as the B grade light soda, but has higher consumer properties, the report said.

Calcined soda is used in the manufacturing of glass products, synthetic detergents, building materials, as well as for reducing water hardness on an industrial scale. The plant plans to start the export of these products.

In 2006, the enterprise had production capacity of 100,000 tons of soda per year. In 2016, the production volume was increased to 200,000 tons. The expansion of the plant cost $104.4 million worth of investments.

Russia, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan and Turkmenistan have been selected as potential export markets.

The Kungrad soda plant, along with Chorsu Hotel and Samarkand Kimyo, has been sold to new investors, the message said.
