BAKU, Azerbaijan, October 11. Prices for bread increased in Kazakhstan as of October 4, 2022 by 11.9 percent [in annual terms] and since January 2023 all measures will be taken to stabilize them, Minister of Agriculture Yerbol Karashukeyev told reporters after the government meeting, Trend reports via the Kazakh media.

“The Ministry of Agriculture and the Food Contract Corporation from January to September supplied cheaper grain - 90,000 tenge ($190) per ton. From October until the end of the year, the regions themselves will determine prices for the new harvest. Since the beginning of the year to date, grain prices have decreased compared to the middle of the year,” Karashukeyev said.

According to the minister, bread price may grow for a number of reasons.

“Components, electricity, and utilities are becoming more expensive. In general, there is no reason for a surge in prices, because there is more flour produced than last year. We have much more wheat than the average annual yield. We plan to collect million tons of grain, including 900,000 tons of wheat, for the stabilization fund this year,” he noted.

Karashukeyev assured that, given the present stocks in the country, the ministry will fully control the prices of all socially significant products.
