Georgia’s ferroalloys imports surge

Georgia’s ferroalloys imports in January 2022 amounted to $5.1 million, which is 45 times more than over the same period of 2021 ($114,520), Trend reports via the National Statistics Office (Geostat).

The same figure also increased almost 40 times, compared to January 2020 ($129,970), and almost 11 times, compared to December 2021 ($473,340).

According to Geostat, Ukraine ranked first among main ferroalloys exporters to Georgia in January 2022 with $4.9 million worth of exports, followed by Azerbaijan ($113,070), and Turkey ($72,690).

Azerbaijan was the only exporter of ferroalloys to Georgia in January 2021 ($114,052). Thus, the amount of Georgia’s ferroalloys imports from Azerbaijan in the reporting period of 2022 decreased by 1.2 percent year-on-year.

Meanwhile, Georgia’s total imports in the reporting period of 2022 totaled $778.1 million – an increase of 38.5 percent, compared to $561.7 million over January 2021, and 20.5 percent, compared to the same month of 2020 ($645.4 million).
