The number of people who have died in the Philippines as a result of the powerful Typhoon Bopha has risen to at least 127, with more than 200 others still missing, local officials said Wednesday, dpa reported.
Bopha, the strongest storm to hit the country this year, has brought heavy rain and strong winds, leaving several areas without power and communications, and displacing around 120,000 since Tuesday.
Mayor Lorenzo Balbin of New Bataan, in the Compostela Valley, said 66 bodies had been found and 230 people were still missing in his town alone.
