Baku, Azerbaijan, Apr. 30

Statements of individual structures do not reflect the official position of the United States, the deputy executive secretary of the ruling New Azerbaijan Party (NAP), MP Siyavush Novruzov told reporters April 30 after a meeting with US Ambassador to Azerbaijan Robert Cekuta, held in the office of the NAP.
The information spread in the media about the fact that the anti-Azerbaijani campaign is run from the office of US Secretary of State John Kerry was not discussed at the meeting, according to Novruzov.
Novruzov said that sometimes the Congress, the Senate, or some non-governmental organizations of the United States make statements. "However, we do not accept these statements as the official position of the United States," he said.
Also, the statements of some MPs, politicians, NGOs of Azerbaijan do not reflect the official position of the country, he said. Azerbaijan has always been a strategic partner of the US and this cooperation will continue in the future, Novruzov said.
He went on to add that at present, the relations between the two countries are stable.
There are certain countries that do not want good relations between Azerbaijan and the US, they play a certain role in their deterioration, Novruzov said.
In Azerbaijan, some political parties, NGOs work with foreign countries and come out with various statements, he said. However, despite this fact, Azerbaijan has supported the US since the beginning of antiterrorist operations. Azerbaijan opened its airspace for the United States in connection with the operations carried out in Afghanistan, despite the fact that the neighboring countries objected to it, the MP said.
Representatives of the Azerbaijani Armed Forces in cooperation with the United States participated in the peace processes in Kosovo as well as in Afghanistan and Iraq, according to him. "Today, the country's armed forces are involved in the peace process in Afghanistan," he said.
The forces hindering the successful development of cooperation between Azerbaijan and the US are financed by the Armenian lobby, Novruzov said.
He said that Azerbaijan is pursuing an independent policy and does not act in accordance with the statements of some structures.
Deputy chairman executive secretary of New Azerbaijan Party, deputy prime minister of Azerbaijan Ali Akhmadov met with the US Ambassador to Azerbaijan Robert Cekuta April 30.
