Ali Ahmadov: Much has changed in Azerbaijan for better, except for opposition
Baku, Azerbaijan, Jan. 19
By Elchin Mehdiyev - Trend:
The traditional opposition of Azerbaijan could not find a place in the political structure of society, Deputy Prime Minister, Deputy Chairman - Executive Secretary of the ruling New Azerbaijan Party (NAP) Ali Ahmadov said, commenting on the rally of the so-called "National Council" on Jan.19.
The rally was held with no success as before, said Ahmadov.
He believes the main purpose of the opposition is to show its existence by holding this rally.
“If the opposition holds a rally to show its existence, then it does not exist as a political force. On the other hand, the activities of the so-called “National Council” have nothing to do with what the people want. The rally organized by them has no relation to the issues of concern for the people. Today, the opposition is far from the issues of relevance for the Azerbaijani society. Therefore, today's rally is irrelevant for the people. Believe me that even one percent of the population is not aware of the fact that the opposition has held a rally today. The society has long been indifferent to the opposition and its small, insignificant meetings," said Ali Ahmadov.
At the same time, he noted that the people’s support to the government is quite strong and decisive.
"The security, stability, development, optimism for the future, appeasement and other positive aspects created in Azerbaijan are the basis of the people’s positive attitude to the government. During the presidency of President Ilham Aliyev, Azerbaijan has fundamentally changed and developed. Currently, positive changes more intensively continue in the country. Large-scale projects are being implemented for the future of Azerbaijan. Accordingly, the people's optimism is growing, and small meetings of the small opposition cannot be a source of danger for the government," added Ali Ahmadov.
He also noted that in the last 10-15 years much has changed for the better in Azerbaijan, except for the opposition.
"Today’s opposition remains an inert, small marginal group that is a carrier of ideas that have lost relevance. The New Azerbaijan Party does not consider it a political force," he added.
