Kazakhstan, France agree to launch joint investment projects

A Kazakh delegation headed by Deputy Prime Minister - Minister of Industry and New Technologies Aset Isekeshev paid a working visit to France, the ministry reported on Wednesday.

Within the visit the delegation met with the leadership of France's economic institutions and leading companies and some agreements on creation of joint investment projects were reached.

In particular French PSA Peugeot Citroen and Kazakh Agromash Holding and Allur Auto signed an agreement for the assembly and distribution of four Peugeot cars models in Kazakhstan.

Moreover, some French companies expressed interest for French-Kazakh joint enterprises creation in Kazakhstan, such as a project of French CNIM and Kazakh On Olzha on construction of a waste disposal plant and a thermal power plant in Kokshetau which capacity will hit up to 25MW of heat and 5.3 MW of electricity. French SOITEC expressed willingness to invest $150 million in a joint venture on the concentration solar panel production and construction of the plant with a total capacity of 200 MW per year.

A Kazakh party was interested in the project proposed by Bureau Veritas on a common system of cargo operations, integrated into the single window for trade facilitation.
Within the Kazakh delegation's visit to France, the tenth session of the Kazakh-French intergovernmental commission on economic cooperation took place.

Within the session the parties discussed the issues aimed at further expanding and intensifying the economic ties in the field of advanced industrial technology, energy, technical education, innovation, etc. The parties expressed interest for projects in the field of energy efficiency, environment, renewable energy, innovation transport, engineering, agriculture and tourism.

Moreover, a regular meeting of the Kazakh-French Business Council occurred. Over 100 representatives of French business attended the event.

A Kazakh delegation discussed a possibility of joint facilities creation with management of such holdings as CEA, Soitec, Saft, Fonroche, EDF, CNIM, Santi Gobain PAM, Degremont, Veolia, ROMA, PSA, Vallourec, Vicat, Vinci, Alstom, Eurocopter, Sanofi, Cifal, Bureau Veritas, and BRGM.
