By Leman Zeynalova – Trend:

SOCAR Energy Ukraine, a subsidiary of Azerbaijan’s state oil company SOCAR, plans to open new facilities in million-plus cities, as well as in major tourist trails of Ukraine in coming years, the company told Trend.

“As such, it is planned to open new gas filling stations in in Kiev and Kharkov. We are also working on building a service hub in Chongar village, Genichesk district of the Kherson region. The opening is scheduled for late January 2021,” said the company.

Looking back to the outgoing year of 2020, the company said it opened new opportunities and brought new challenges.

“The COVID-19 pandemic affected all aspects of our life, showed the need for business readiness to challenges, flexibility. The volume of fuel sales dropped by 30 percent due to the pandemic. The schedule of opening the new facilities changed, many projects were cancelled, we temporarily suspended some services. We have a lot of plans for 2021. But the situation is still hard to predict due to the COVID-19. Therefore, we wouldn’t like to announce them.” Sid the company.

SOCAR’s representative office opened in Ukraine in 2008.

The company acquired about 20 Tala-Nafta filling stations in Odessa and Nikolaev regions, as well as Svitanok large oil depot in Odessa region in 2009.

The company took control of the fuelling networks ONIO (four filling stations in Kyiv and the region) and GFC (in Lviv region) in 2010-2011. SOCAR received permission from the Antimonopoly Committee of Ukraine to purchase 26 filling stations and one tank farm of the Kalina group in August 2012.
