Kazakhstan increased electricity generation from renewable energy sources by 22 percent in 2015 compared to 2014, bringing its volume to 0.704 billion kilowatt hours, said the country's Energy Ministry on its website Feb. 22.
Meanwhile, the total electricity generation (from all sources) in Kazakhstan stood at 90.8 billion kilowatt hours in 2015, or 3.3 percent less than in 2014.
The country implemented 14 projects in renewable energy sector in 2015.
Under a concept meant for Kazakhstan's switching to "green economy", the electricity generated from renewable energy sources is planed to share three percent of the total electricity production in 2020 and 10 percent in 2030.
