Prime Minister of Georgia Bidzina Ivanishvili and Head of the Government of Israel Benjamin Netanyahu discussed the issues of bilateral cooperation and regional security during a meeting on Tuesday, press service of the Government of Georgia told Trend.

"Today vital topics are the preservation of peace and the fight against terrorism, and the experience of Israel in this area are very important for Georgia, and we intend to cooperate in this field," Ivanishvili said.

According to Netanyahu, Israel is committed to a stable peace settlement with the Palestinians, which can be achieved only through direct negotiations without preconditions.

"We are ready to such negotiations. I hope that the Palestinians are ready for such talks. Our goal is not just putting a check mark in the column 'negotiations began', but to continue negotiations as long as necessary to address all the major issues of the conflict," Netanyahu said.

Following the meeting, the sides signed an agreement on cooperation in the field of culture.

Ivanishvili's meeting with the Speaker of the Knesset Yuli Edelstein is also scheduled for Tuesday.
