The representatives of Azerbaijani Ombudsman have met with a human rights activist.
Members of the National Preventive Mechanism group have conducted a regular monitoring in temporary detention facilities upon Azerbaijani ombudsman's instructions, the Ombudsman's office told Trend today.
A temporary detention facility of the Sabirabad Region Police Department has been examined.
Besides other individuals, a face to face conversation has been held with human rights activist Oktay Gulaliyev.
Earlier, a decision about his 12-day-administrative detention has been made on the basis of Article 296 of the Code of Administrative Violations.
Although there were no complaints about the detention conditions and treatment of police officers, Gulaliyev expressed dissatisfaction with the detention conditions, complained of abuse used by Rauf Medjidov during detention and the failure to render the first aid.
It has been found that the temporary detention facilities do not meet the standards.
Head of Regional Police Department Mubariz Guliyev said that it is planned to build a new office building. No violence was used against Gulaliyev. Medical assistance was offered, but he refused from it. He met with his lawyer in private on April 10.
Ombudsman contacted public prosecutor of Sabirabad region on April 9, urged to meet with Gulaliyev and make a report.
Forensic examination was held. No signs of violence were revealed. The information about violence used against Gulaliyev is being clarified.
