BAKU, Azerbaijan, July 20. Azerbaijan and India discussed the prospects of tourism development, Trend reports.

According to the State Tourism Agency of Azerbaijan, the discussions were held within the framework of a meeting between Chairman of the agency Fuad Nagiyev and Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of India to Azerbaijan Sridharan Madhusudhanan.

Meanwhile, prospects for development of bilateral relations, measures of mutual promotion, cultural and historical factors that attract Indian tourists to Azerbaijan, the intensification of visits of Indian tourists to Azerbaijan in recent years, and an increase in the number of direct flights were discussed at the meeting.

According to the available data, direct flights from India to Azerbaijan are planned to be carried out by IndiGo Airlines from August this year.

In general, more than 47,670 foreign guests from India visited Azerbaijan in the first half of 2023, which is more than three times more than in the same period last year, and 1.7 times more than in the same period of 2019.

Moreover, the e-Visa system is used for Indian citizens to travel to Azerbaijan. Currently, direct flights are carried out by Azerbaijan Airlines in the direction of Delhi-Baku-Delhi.
