(mobilemag) - Traditionally, Dell laptops are designed to be used in the cozy confines of a home or an office. That image is about to change as the company has just announced the Latitude ATG D620, their first offering that meets "military standards for vibration, humidity and altitude." In this way, the ATG (All-Terrain Grade) is touted as being "great for outdoors." You won't exactly want to dump it in the mud, but it is "designed to protect against accidental bumps, moisture and other elements that customers encounter working in the field."
What this means is that the hard drive won't skip a beat (it's shock-mounted), the keyboard is spill-resistant, and all the pertinent ports are covered to prevent any sort of contamination. The 14.1-inch display features an ambient light sensor, glass overlay, and anti-reflective coating, making it 1.5 times as bright as "most mainstream corporate notebooks." Very nice, I like. As far as the tech specs are concerned, they read as thus: Core 2 Duo processor, up to 4GB DDR2 SDRAM, Windows Vista Capable, ATG task lights for keyboard lighting, and 14.1-inch WXGA screen. Pricing starts at $2,499, reports Trend.
