The Dashkasan Enterprise service area of the Azerbaijani Environment and Natural Resources Ministry's Forests Department was set aflame Feb.21.
The fire covered 0.75 hectares and caused damage to the forest fund, the ministry reported.
Company employees and residents of nearby villages put out the fire.
Based on the department's preliminary investigation, a hunter's cigarette butt caused the fire.
Given the windy conditions in the country in recent days, the ministry urges citizens to observe the rules of fire safety to protect forests.
