The International Olympiad on Environmental Protection in Azerbaijan will bring together 300 representatives from 33 countries, Fourth Olympiad on International Environmental Protection Organizing Committee Chairman Arif Gomleksiz told journalists.
According to the chairman, the committee received 3000 projects in 2010 and 97 (45 from Azerbaijan and 52 from foreign countries) were submitted to jury for discussion.
The olympiad aims to inform young generations about environmental solutions and developing ecological thinking among schoolchildern.
The olympiad in Baku will improve children's ecological knowledge. Under the project, 3,000 green shoots were distributed as invitations, Cag Oyretim Ishletmeleri President Anvar Ozeren said.
The event be held April 7-11 by the education, ecology and natural resources ministries, the State Oil Company of the Azerbaijan Republic, the Azerbaijani Public Broadcaster and Cag Oyretim Ishletmeleri.
The olympiad is dedicated to the Year of Ecology in 2010 in Azerbaijan.
