A number of reports about approaching volcanic ash ejected by a volcano in Iceland, does not correspond to reality, the Ministry of Environment and Natural Resources hydrometeorological forecasts bureau chief engineer Imran Mammadov told Trend.
He said that meteorological studies conducted on Tuesday showed that this probability is zero.
Eyyafyatlayokudl volcano began eruption 200 kilometers south-east of the Icelandic capital Reykjavik April 14. This led to the formation of a large cloud of ash particles which are dangerous for turbine engines and can cause problems, settling on the wings of aircraft. Europe's security services have decided to close the airspace over many areas.
"South-west airflow over Turkey prevents the penetration of volcanic ash into the territory of Azerbaijan", he said.
Ekho Moskvy radio station website reported with reference to Reuters that the cloud of volcanic dust remains over most part of the continent and began to move to the territory of Azerbaijan.
