A zoological park, where animals will be kept in the close-to-nature conditions, will be established on an area of 55 hectares near Baku, Azerbaijani Ecology and Natural Resources Minister Huseyngulu Bagirov told journalists today.

According to him, current zoo in Baku is a menagerie, where animals are kept in cages.

"The country's leadership ordered to begin establishing zoological park in the teriitory of 55 hectares near Guzdek-Baku road, where animals will be kept in the close-to-nature conditions," - Bagirov said.

According to him, location of the zoo in the city is not necessary. "The world already refuses small zoos practice, big zoos have a great conceptual character," - the minister said.
