Ecology Ministry: Increase of water level expected in Kur River

The water level in the Kur River in some points of the Azerbaijani territory is expected to increase in the coming days, Asif Verdiyev, chief hydrologist at Bureau of Meteorological Forecasts said.

The water level in the Kur River in some points of the Azerbaijani territory is expected to increase in the coming days, Asif Verdiyev, chief hydrologist at Bureau of Meteorological Forecasts said.

"The current level of increase of water in the Kur River can be considered a record.Increase was recorded also in 2003, but not to this level,"  Verdiyev said.

According to him, in connection with the lack of rainfall increase of water level in the Kur River in Yevlakh and Zardab decreased from 15-25 centimeters per day to 5-15 centimeters, but due to the waters of the Araz River increase of water level will continue in Sabirabad, Salyan, Shirvan and Neftchala in the coming days.

Azerbaijani Emergency Situations in connection with rainfall, including flood in the Kur and Araz rivers announced about serious situation in cities and regions of the country.

Currently, the technologies of the ministry are pumping water from the residential areas of the Shirvan city along the Kura River, including from private plots and Bayramli and Hajigahramanly settlements, the administrative center of Salyan district and Garagashly settlement, as well as villages of Kur Garagashly, Arabgardashbeyli, Chukhanly, Seyidan, Garabagly, Pambigkyand, Tezekand, Janan and Nohudlu and the dam with length of 500 meters.
