Icelandic volcanic ash won't spread to Azerbaijan, Azerbaijani Ecology and Natural Resources Ministry National Hydrometeorological Department chief engineer Imran Mammadov said.
"If in the first eruption ash has not spread in Azerbaijan, then the probability of ash clouds in Azerbaijan is equal to zero," Mammadov told Trend.
He said the detailed meteorological studies have shown that the ash cloud did not spread to Azerbaijan.
The Eyyafyatlayokudl volcano 200 kilometers east of Reykjavik began to erupt April 14. This led to the formation of large ash clouds, whose particles are dangerous for turbine engines and can cause problems for airplanes. As a result, the European Aviation Safety Service decided to close the airspace over many areas.
