Azerbaijan, Baku, Oct. 30 / Trend R.Hafizoglu /
Azerbaijani religious figures will be recertified, the Caucasus Muslim Department (CMD) said.
"People having religious knowledge, education, and experience will have privilege during attestation," deputy chairman of the CMD Mufti Haji Salman Musayev told Trend on Oct.30.
Earlier, religious figures have been certified in Azerbaijan. Religious communities are recertified due to the amendments and additions to the law "Freedom of religion".
According to Musayev, recertification of religious figures to be appointed in the communities will be launched after registration is completed.
"At present, wrong reading of the holy "Koran" by some religious figures is one of the main problems. Such facts lead to the growth of public discontent," the mufti said.
The CMD holds several actions to prevent the students getting religious education abroad from falling under the influence of non-traditional religious movements, Musayev said.
""We must not give preference to graduates who have received education abroad, but to graduates of the Islamic University as the Islamic University educates religious figures in a spirit of patriotism," the mufti said.
According to Musayev, the CMD finances the religious education of the Azerbaijani students abroad. However, several Azerbaijani citizens receive religious education abroad illegally.
