The Azerbaijan State Committee on Standardization, Metrology and Patents appealed to the prosecutor's office to file a suit on 10 enterprises due to selling sub-quality goods, Head of the State Committee Ramiz Hasanov said.

"At present, activities of all 10 enterprises have been suspended," Hasanov said.

Hasanov said number of entrepreneurs who apply to the state committee to pass certification has increased due to increasing a size of fine sanctions.

Earlier, a maximum amount of fine for persons selling sub-quality products was 250 manat, but now this figure has been increased to 5,000 manat, Hasanov said.

"Such an increase in the fine sanctions makes entrepreneurs eliminate existing problems in their activities," Hasanov said.

The Azerbaijan State Committee on Standardization, Metrology and Patents regularly monitors the country's markets to reveal facts of selling sub-quality products.

On May 26, the official exchange rate is 0.8036 manat to $1.
