The number of foreign tourists who visited Turkey in January-August this year increased by 10.6 per cent compared to the same period last year, the Turkish Ministry of Tourism said today.
This means around 24 million people visited Turkey for the first eight months of 2013. The largest number of tourists of around 3.3 million came from Germany and 3.1 million from Russia.
During this period, the largest number of tourists visited Istanbul, Antalya, Izmir, Adana and Mersin.
According to the report, around 3.6 million people visited Turkey in August 2013 or 8.4 per cent more than in the same month of 2012.
