Russia considers creation of joint Russian-Uzbek fund

Russia proposed to create a joint Russian-Uzbek fund, by analogy with the existing ones between Russia and China, Japan, Trend reports referring to Dunyo information agency.

A round table was held at the International Business Center in Uzbekistan on the "Industrial cooperation between enterprises of Uzbekistan and Russia" topic, which was attended by Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Investment and Foreign Trade of Uzbekistan Sardor Umurzakov and Minister of Industry and Trade of Russia Denis Manturov.

It was emphasized at the meeting that Russia is the largest investment partner of Uzbekistan and in the last three years alone the number of enterprises with Russian capital in the country has more than doubled.

It was also noted that the presidents of the two countries set the task of bringing the trade turnover up to $10 billion at the first stage.

The parties stressed that it is necessary to develop interaction not only in a bilateral format, but also to involve other countries in order to optimize interaction and increase benefits.

General Director of the Russian Export Center (REC) Veronika Nikishina noted that over two years the total amount of financial support for projects in Uzbekistan exceeded one billion dollars. According to her, REC is currently implementing ten projects together with Uzbekistan, worth almost 27 billion rubles ($363,622).

At the end of the round table, a Memorandum was signed between the Ministry of Industry and Trade of Russia and the Ministry of Investment and Foreign Trade of Uzbekistan on interaction in the field of industry, foreign trade, and investment cooperation, as well as an action plan for the organization and holding of the international industrial exhibition "INNOPROM. Big Industrial Week in Uzbekistan".
