Former head of Kazakstan's National Welfare Fund "Samruk-Kazyna" and manager of oil and gas companies Timur Kulibayev joined Russia's Gazprom's board of directors, Novosti-Kazakhstan reported.
The shareholders of Gazprom elected new staff of board of directors at the annual meeting. First Deputy Premier of Russia Victor Zubkov remained in his post as a chairman, Vitaly Markelov, appointed last year as a deputy chairman of Gazprom, became new director.
The initial list of candidates to the new Board of Directors was approved in February for further elections at annual meeting on June 24. However, Russian president Dmitriy Medvedev instructed to replace eight ministers and deputy prime ministers from the boards of major state-run companies by July 1. Russian Deputy Prime Minister Igor Sechin stepped down as chairman of Rosneft oil company the same month.
Rector of the State Oil and Gas University Viktor Martynov, as well as former deputy chairman of Gazprom, Alexander Ananenkov, who was dismissed from the Holding in December, 2011, failed to join the board of Directors.
