BAKU, Azerbaijan, June 24. The volume of gas extracted from the Shah Deniz gas and condensate field in Azerbaijan has reached 250 billion cubic meters, Trend reports citing the Ministry of Energy.

The Shah Deniz field was discovered in 1999. According to preliminary estimates, it holds approximately 1 trillion cubic meters of natural gas and 2 billion barrels of condensate.

Gas production at the field began in December 2006 under the Shah Deniz Stage 1 project, and has continued since July 2018 as part of Shah Deniz Stage 2.

Gas from the Shah Deniz field is supplied to Azerbaijan’s domestic market (via SOCAR), Georgia (GOGC), Türkiye (BOTAS), BTC facilities, as well as buyers in Europe.

The production capacity of the existing facilities at the field is approximately 76.4 million standard cubic meters per day, or about 27.9 billion cubic meters per year.

The project’s shareholding structure is as follows: bp (operator) – 29.99%; LUKOIL – 19.99%; TPAO – 19.00%; SGC – 16.02%; NICO – 10.00%; MVM – 5.00%.
