By Fakhri Vakilov - Trend:
Uzbekneftegaz received an invitation to participate in projects for drilling, equipment repair and construction of gas pipelines in Afghanistan, Trend reports via Uzbek media.
“Currently, we have an invitation to participate in tenders in Afghanistan for drilling, equipment repair, and construction of gas pipelines. We are now only considering the proposal, because we have questions, in particular, on the safety of our staff,” chairman of the board of Uzbekneftegaz Bakhodirjon Sidikov said at a briefing at the Agency of Information and Mass Communications.
Uzbekneftegaz states that Uzbekistan conducted a number of geological surveys in the Uzbek part of the Amudarya oil and gas basin covering the territory of Afghanistan in the 1990s, but due to the difficult situation in this country, further work was curtailed.
Last year, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs reported that Uzbekistan was exploring the possibility of a resumption of oil and gas exploration in the northern part of Afghanistan.
