BAKU, Azerbaijan, June 24. Iran is currently producing an average of 660 million cubic meters of rich gas daily from the Iran-Qatar joint South Pars gas field (called North Dome in Qatar), an official of Iran’s Pars Oil and Gas Company (POGC), Salman Khazaei said, Trend reports.

The official said that currently, rich gas is produced from the South Pars gas field in order to provide gas to the country’s TPPs and other facilities.

“In order to maximize gas production from the South Pars gas field in the winter season, overhauls on the platforms of the gas field are being carried out gradually since June 19, 2023. At present, 1 platform is being repaired, then 4 platforms, and then 8 platforms will be fundamentally repaired. Each platform is repaired within 7-20 days. Overhauls are being carried out by local contractors using domestic equipment and supplies and are expected to be completed in early November,” he added.

The South Pars gas field (called North Dome in Qatar) is a joint gas field between Iran and Qatar. The proven reserves of the South Pars Gas Field are estimated at 51 trillion cubic meters of gas, of which 36 trillion are extractable. Iran's share in the field is 14 trillion cubic meters of gas and 18 billion barrels of gas condensate.

Reportedly, Iran produces an average of 700 million cubic meters of gas per day from the South Pars gas field in winter.
