BAKU, Azerbaijan, April 13. Kazakhstan sets a price cap for RON-92 and RON-93 fuel at 205 Kazakh tenge ($0.45) per liter, while the price of diesel will not exceed 295 Kazakh tenge ($0.65), Trend reports, citing the Ministry of Energy of Kazakhstan.

According to the new measure, Kazakh citizens will be allowed to purchase up to 100 liters of diesel by presenting a valid driver’s license. The limit for truck, bus, and specialized vehicle drivers is set at 300 liters. Drivers exceeding the limit can purchase additional volumes of diesel fuel for 450 Kazakh tenge ($0.99) per liter.

At the same time, the cost of diesel fuel for farmers will not change until the completion of spring fieldwork. Currently, diesel price for farmers is 204 Kazakh tenge ($0.45) per liter, which is 31 percent less compared to the market price.

The ministry noted that farmers will receive 419,000 tons of subsidized diesel fuel to facilitate spring field works.

The cap is introduced in order to eliminate the disparity between Kazakhstan and other neighboring states. This step will enable Astana to reduce the outflow of fuel, which will help to satisfy domestic demand.
