BAKU, Azerbaijan, November 30. Chairman of the upper house of Parliament of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov held a meeting with President of the Korean International Trade Association (KITA) Christopher Koo, during which issues of development of cooperation in the transport and logistics sphere were discussed, Trend reports citing the State News Agency of Turkmenistan (TDH).
During the meeting, the parties discussed the issues of effective use of transport and transit corridors of the two countries, as well as the exploitation of the existing infrastructure.
Berdimuhamedov noted that Turkmenistan pays special attention to the modern development of the transport and logistics sector, the construction of internationally significant highways and the increase in the potential of transport and transit corridors, and also added that the Turkmenbashi International Seaport is a significant object of transport infrastructure, which has huge opportunities in the transportation of products of the Republic of Korea to Europe.
In turn, the head of KITA said that today Turkmenistan is one of the countries with which the Republic of Korea is developing partnership relations and added that within the framework of bilateral cooperation, special attention is paid to the effective use of transport and transit corridors of the two countries and the development of cooperation on a comprehensive basis in this area.
Furthermore, the parties stressed that cooperation on interregional transport and transit corridors is also seen as strategic through the development of transcontinental transportation along East-West and North-South routes and access to the markets of Asia, Europe and the Middle East.
