Uzbekistan’s Central Bank shares data on volume of cards in circulation

BAKU, Azerbaijan, March 9. The number of bank cards in circulation in Uzbekistan amounted to 34.8 million, as of the beginning of February 2023, Trend reports via the Uzbek Central Bank.

This figure has increased by 37.2 percent year-on-year, as of February 1, 2022 – 27.2 million.

According to the CBU, Uzbekistan’s Xalq Bank has become the leader in terms of the volume of issued plastic cards – 7.1 million. Followed by Agrobank – 3.9 million, Ipoteka-bank – 3.1 million, National bank – 3.07 million, and Ipak Yuli bank – 2.1 million.

The bank says that among the 32 banks of the country, the smallest number of cards issued into circulation was registered in Uzbekistan’s Uzagroeksportbank – 1,402.

Meanwhile, during the reporting period, Uzbekistan’s number of bank cards in circulation has also increased, compared to the figure for the beginning of January 2023 (34.1 million) – an increase of 1.9 percent.

As of January 1, 2023, Uzbekistan’s Xalq Bank also ranked first in terms of issued cards – 6.9 million.
