The Court of Appeal rejected the claim on pre-trial release of the former Deputy Interior Minister, vice-mayor of Tbilisi Shota Khizanishvili. The Court did not consider it possible to release Khizanishvili on bail.
Previously, Tbilisi City Court sentenced Shota Khizanishvili to imprisonment as a preliminary measure of restraint. He will spend two months in jail until trial.
Khizanishvili was charged with abuse of authority and obtaining of private information via illegal means.
Khizanishvili is threatened with imprisonment of two to five years.
