The number of debit cards in circulation in Georgia in January 2022 amounted to 6.25 million, which is an increase of 2.4 percent, compared to the same month of 2021 (6.1 million), Trend reports via the National Bank of Georgia (NBG).
However, the same figure decreased by 0.4 percent, compared to 6.28 million debit cards in December 2021.
According to the NBG, the volume of EC/MC debit cards in January 2022 amounted to 3.8 million - a decrease of 1.2 percent, compared to the same period of 2021 (3.85 million). The same figure also decreased by 0.2 percent, compared to December 2021 (3.81 million).
The number of VISA debit cards in the reporting period of 2022 increased by 10.5 percent, compared to 1.9 million in January 2021, and totaled 2.1 million. However, the same figure slightly decreased by 0.9 percent, compared to December 2021 (2.12 million).
Meanwhile, the total number of plastic cards in circulation in Georgia in January 2022 amounted to 6.8 million, which is an increase of 1.4 percent, compared to the same month of 2021 (6.7 million).
