French President Nicolas Sarkozy will co-chair an international summit in Egypt Sunday on the Gaza crisis, the French president's office said in a statement Saturday.
According to the statement, Sarkozy will co-chair the meeting with Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak, who has invited several world leaders to meet in the Red Sea resort Sharm el-Sheik to discuss the Gaza war on Sunday.
Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas and UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon will participate the meeting. German Chancellor Angela Merkel and British Prime Minister Gordon Brown are also attending.
Israel planned to halt the military offensive on the Gaza Strip on Saturday, while Hamas maintained fighting, Xinhua reported.
The Israeli attacks on Gaza, began on Dec. 27, has killed at least 1,200 Palestinians and wounded over 5,200 people.
