Turkey will send a five-member relief team and foodstuffs to Libyan city of Benghazi by a plane on Monday to help Turkish people in Libya as unrest has swept the country, Anadolu News Agency reported.
The Prime Ministry Office said in a statement that the plane carrying a five-member team from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs including two doctors and a nurse and Turkish relief agency Red Crescent's food aid would take off from Istanbul's Ataturk Airport at 7:00 a.m.
So far, 581 Turkish citizens have been evacuated from Libya.
Meanwhile, a crisis desk has been established at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
The ministry said that additional flights would be held to evacuate Turkish citizens. After getting permission from Libyan authorities, the planes will leave for Libya to bring back some 3 thousand Turkish citizens.
A meeting took place at the Ministry on Sunday night. High-level officials from the General Staff, the Prime Ministry Directorate General of Crisis management, Ministry of Transportation, Directorate General of Civil Aviation, Undersecretariat of Maritime and Turkish Red Crescent were in attendance at the meeting presided by Foreign Minister Ahmet Davutoglu. They discussed measures to be taken for evacuation of Turkish citizens from Libya.
