Iran hopes for cooperation with Russia in the space sector, Iranian Foreign Minister Ali Akbar Salehi said, according to RIA Novosti.
"We hope that through cooperation with Russia, we will accelerate progress in this area," he told reporters in Moscow on Tuesday.
The Iranian minister said that following a meeting on Tuesday, the Russian-Iranian intergovernmental commission signed the final protocol, one of the points of which relates to cooperation between Russia and Iran in the space sector.
The Iranian Foreign Minister also said that "Iran is the only country of 57 Islamic states which creates and launches satellites on its own and the only country that may carry out cloning or conduct research in the field of genetic engineering."
According to him, if the country wants to "be independent and create its own future with its own hands," it needs to "to pay for it."
Salehi said that the Iranian people have repeatedly demonstrated their willingness to pay any price for their independence.
