The volume of non-oil trade exchanges between Iran and the Persian Gulf state of the United Arab Emirates (UAE) reached USD 9.637 billion during the first three quarters of the current Iranian calendar year, which began on March 21, 2013, new customs data show, PressTV reported.
According to the latest data released by the Iranian Customs Administration on Tuesday, Iran exported USD 2.682 billion worth of non-oil commodities to the UAE during the nine-month period, marking a 35.81 percent rise in weight and a 21.27 percent decline in value compared to the corresponding period last year. The non-oil exports weighed 4.342 million tons.
Iran also imported USD 6.955 billion worth of non-oil products weighing 3.852 million tons in the first nine months of the current Iranian calendar year. The figures show a 26.40 percent decline in weight and a 12.81 percent fall in value.
The Iranian Customs Administration data also showed that the UAE was Iran's second largest trading partner after China during the 9-month period.
Iran exported USD 5.206 billion of non-oil commodities to China during the period, while it imported USD 6.504 billion of non-oil goods from the East Asian country.
Iran earned USD 29.241 billion from exporting non-oil commodities in the first nine months of the current Iranian calendar year.
Iran exported iron ore valued at USD 1,033 billion, methanol, also known as methyl alcohol, valued at USD 877 million and urea valued at USD 866 million during the nine-month period.
The three commodities were Iran's main export products, excluding gas condensate and petrochemicals.
Iran also exported USD 6.363 billion of gas condensate, USD 8.116 billion of petrochemical products, and USD 14.761 billion of other goods.
China, Iraq, the United Arab Emirates, India, and Afghanistan were the main importers of non-oil products from Iran.
Iran imported USD 1.764 billion of rice, USD 1.261 billion of soy meal, USD 915 million of corn, USD 869 million of wheat, and USD 794 million of vehicles in the first nine months of the current Iranian calendar year.
The UAE, China, India, South Korea, and Turkey were the leading exporters of non-oil products to Iran.
