Georgian President Mikheil Saakashvili has sent a letter to NATO Secretary General Anders Fogh Rasmussen to investigate the appearance of anti-Georgian videos online.

The appearance of these videos on June 6 were immediately followed by an attack on a base of Georgian troops in Helmand, Afghanistan, where seven soldiers were killed and nine were wounded.

The president of Georgia asked to find out whether the appearance of these videos was related to the attack on the Georgian soldiers.

In his letter Saakashvili also expressed hope for the continuation of cooperation between Georgia and NATO, and that the Georgian soldiers who were injured as a result of the attack, will receive the necessary aid.

A video called "Jihad against Georgian troops in Afghanistan" appeared on YouTube. According to the Georgian media outlets, the authors of the video threatened the Georgian soldiers, who participate in the ISAF mission.

The video includes words that every soldier on Afghan land and those who sent them there "will be punished".

Ministry of Defense and Ministry of Internal Affairs of Georgia have started an investigation of the facts and identification of those who spread this video.
