As a result of efforts made by the Azerbaijani Consulate General in Tabriz and Embassy in Tehran, consent was reached on a meeting of Azerbaijani poets detained in Iran with their family members, Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry spokesman Elman Abdullayev told reporters on Wednesday.
"Azerbaijani Consul General in Tabriz agreed with governor of East Azerbaijan Province in this regard," Abdullayev said.
He said at present details regarding the upcoming meeting of Azerbaijani poets with their family members are discussed with Iranian side.
"So far, Iranian side has not provided detailed information about charges against the poets. Azerbaijan side expects information from Iranian side," Abdullayev said.
He said the achieved agreements are great success of Azerbaijani diplomacy.
Two Azerbaijani citizens Farid Huseyn and Shahriyar Hajizade were detained in Iran on May 2.
Azerbaijan's Foreign Ministry has sent five notes to Iran's Foreign Ministry demanding clarification of the situation with the two missing men.
The Iranian Foreign Ministry confirmed the arrest of two Azerbaijani citizens. According to its response to Azerbaijan's note, the two citizens are accused of attempting to commit a crime.
