Azerbaijan ready to consider creation of its own satellite navigation system
Azerbaijan, Baku, Feb. 12 / Trend, H. Valiyev /
Azerbaijan is ready to invest in a project to create its own navigation system if need arises, president of Azercosmos, Rashad Nabiyev said on Tuesday.
According to him, if the project is important and cost-effective, this area may turn into a subject for discussions.
"For example, the GLONASS system is currently unprofitable and in comparison to the U.S. global positioning system, not competitive. Yet technology evolves. Azerbaijan develops in parallel and the image and the international influence of the country increases. I do not rule out that at some point we may decide to develop this sector as well," Nabiyev said.
The basic principle of the use of satellite navigation systems is positioning by measuring the time of reception between synchronized signals from satellite navigation systems to the consumer.
